Dawson Neighborhood is formally defined by the City of Austin as the area bounded by Oltorf, Ben White, South First and South Congress.

Along South First and Congress are numerous small retail and service businesses, predominantly Tejano/Tejana-owned and operated.
In the interior are lovely early 20th century bungalows with backyards, front yards, fences and plenty of dogs, cats, children and grown -ups.
And, as 78704 is Texas’ prime refuge of hipsters, flipsters and finger-poppin’ spanish-speakin’ daddies, of course there are some who seek to wage culture war by turning these 48 some odd acres into glass and steel hi-rise yuppie prisons–aka condos –and make em heap big wampum in the process…presumably so they can afford to move to Dallas.
We’ll see what happens.
